Roses Everywhere – Using Skitch
January 25th, 2009 Yong-Long Lai Just trying out Skitch! it’s pretty cool! Definitely worth checking it out if you’re wanting to capture images or screen shots for quick uploading onto email, blogs, webpages or just simple editing and saving.
Anyways, enough about Skitch. Below is an obvious bucket full of roses, I’ve been getting many buckets over roses over the past few months thanks to somebody working at a rose farm. It was definitely cool in the beginning, but the roses keeps coming and nobody wants them anymore. I think the saying goes something like… “… a good thing in excess starts to become a bad thing…”, its interesting to see and experience this in real life. I guess is the simple law of economics, supply and demand. Kind of similar to, “Distance makes the heart grow fonder” => (translate to) => reduce supply (scarcity) makes the prices goes up.
Obviously this rose thing is kind of the opposite, but it’ll definitely be great for Chinese New Year on Monday (if it last that long)!
Market Capitalisation – Banking Meltdown
January 25th, 2009 Yong-Long Lai Market Capitalisation of Banks over the past 12-18 months has been a one way ride. (If you haven’t been paying attention, it’s been falling and its bringing the rest of the world with it) Bank’s have obviously been hit hard by the credit crisis so when I was passed this interesting fact from a friend, I thought i’ll share it with you. It’s a very good graphical depiction of what has happen to some of the biggest Banks in the world.
Over these ‘rocky’ times, we have heard many different Banks merging and running into liquidity issues, we have also heard their share prices have dropped significantly in value, But this visual representation (I feel) may help you understand the magnitude of the credit crisis on the Market Capitalisation of the Banks.
